WELCOME PLAYERS AND PARENTS!!!!!!
Hello everyone! I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and Coach Tom DePaola. My name is Coach Kevin Smith. I've been playing baseball for what seems like my entire life since I was around 5 years old. I played up through college and then went straight to a men's adult baseball league. I can't remember the last summer when I didn't play baseball. I am very excited for the upcoming season and I'm honored to have the opportunity to Coach this team. Tom DePaola will be helping coach the team as well and is going to be the assistant coach. Tom will be sending out a brief introduction as well if he hasn't done so already. After speaking with Coach DePaola earlier it is clear that he is very committed to coaching this team with me and I am looking forward to collaborating with him and sharing our knowledge about the game with all the young ball players on the team. Please give Tom a nice warm welcome and we both can't wait to meet all the players in a few weeks at our first practice on Wednesday March 22, 2023 at 5:15pm. Hope to see everyone there ready to get our season started!
Most, if not all, of the A5 Crawdad team communication will be posted here on our team home page AND/OR email. Likely for at least the first few weeks, I will both post a bulletin in addition to emailing all parents and players so that we can ensure all team communication is reaching the desired parties.
A little bit more about myself and my baseball experience. I am currently a player on the Men's Deep Run 30 years and older baseball team. I have played baseball since as long as I can remember. I am excited to share America's greatest pastime with the young ball players on this team. Last thing about myself, I am a high school English/Language Arts Instructor at a charter school in the Pennsbury School district and this is the 4th team I have managed. I used to coach at the Connie Mack level before my son was born and since then I have coached his tee ball and quick ball team. Please communicate any issues, concerns, questions, etc so that we can get everyone the information they need. At this level it is important that everyone on the team enjoy the game, learn the game, and have fun playing the game. However, equally as important is for players to learn how to be a good teammate and team player. While having fun should be the goal, it is very important that the players learn as much as possible about how the game works and learning the skills needed to be successful at the next age group. Our goal is to pass along some degree of the wisdom and knowledge we have gained over the years about this great game we call baseball. We can't wait to get the season started and watch the transformation of all the young ball players on the A5 Crawdad roster.
Please do not hesitate to reach out or contact me via email or if anyone would rather use text messaging that will be fine as well.
My Cell number is (609) 304-8831 and any parent that needs to get in contact with me for any reason can call or text. My email address is kdad0529@yahoo.com.
This is my first year coaching with the Deep Run Organization and it's been a great experience so far. Please bear with me while I learn everyone's name and how to navigate the resources available to me. Please stand by for some additional information over the coming weekend (3/11-3/12) regarding team colors and items that will need to be purchased by parents prior to practice in addition to the standard items (glove, cleats etc). Sometime before the end of the weekend I will send out another message to parents and players with pertinent information once I am able to gather what is needed. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I am honored to have this opportunity to coach your children this coming season! Let's go Crawdads!!!
Respectfully,
Coach Kevin Smith
