Good day all,

I hope that you all are enjoying the 2019 spring baseball year.  My name is Ryan Alderfer and i am coaching the Dash, purple team, in Minor A and B this year.  I am writing this email to see if any of you have interest in continuing your child's baseball experience at Deep Run this summer by registering your child to tryout for a 7U select/travel baseball team(s).  Travel baseball represents a more challenging and advanced level of training and play for the players in comparison to in-house or intramural play. Deep Run would like to have a team at this level and age each year depending on the interest of families.  It is important to note that tryouts will be held and not all of the players will be selected to a team.

For players selected to a team there will be a travel fee in addition to the spring intramural baseball fee, which has already been paid for this spring season. The travel fee is used to cover uniforms, umpires and other program costs.  I am estimating that the fee will be 70-100 for the summer session. Players are only able to participate on this team in addition to in-house/intramural participation which your kids are doing currently.

Travel baseball requires an expectation of families and players to be available for training sessions twice a week, Saturday mornings and a weeknight,  in addition to scrimmages later in the summer with local clubs.

Players must not turn 8 before May 1st 2019.

7U level I am anticipating mostly training sessions focusing on fielding, catching, pitching, baseball basics, baseball fundamentals and of course hitting.  I would encourage as many parents as willing to help with the training if willing. The evaluation of the level of talent will determine the scrimmages and or possible tournaments we would participate in. Most importantly the focus of every training session will be how to keep it fun for the kids and engaging.

A little bit about myself.  I grew up in Hilltown and played soccer and baseball at Deep Run from the age PeeWee’s, what we called it back then, and Tball  through age 16. I played both intramural and travel in both soccer and baseball so I understand the commitment that this type of team requires.  I am passionate about all sports and truly enjoy teaching both my 2 sons, age 6 and 3, and the teams I coach how to play the game right starting with the fundamentals while keeping the kids engaged and having fun throughout the seasons.
