Deep Run Thunderhawks 12U Blue

Deep Run 12u Blue started off their 2021 Suburban season with a check in the Win column last Friday night against Doylestown #1 beating them 5-1.  Asher Franklin took the hill and absolutely dominated the game striking out 9 and walking only 1 through 5 innings.  His fastball was off the charts and his command was unlike anything you normally see at this age.  He was also helped by some solid defense including a diving play on a blooper at 2b by Jake Haas to end an inning and also on a seed thrown by center fielder Anthony Cox on a base hit to him nearly throwing out the batter at 1b.  Austin Keller gunned down the first runner that attempted to steal on him shutting down their run game going forward.  The Deep Run boys also took advantage of their superior base running skills swiping 10 bags at will including a steal home by Connor Murray on a throwback from the catcher to the pitcher setting the tone for things to come.  The hardest hit ball of the night came off the bat of Finn Bachman as he blasted a ball off the center field wall in his first AB.  Great way to start the season for the team!  The Sunday game vs Warwick was rained out and rescheduled for later in April.

Deep Run Thunderhawks 10U Blue

Deep Run 10U Blue kicked off their suburban season on Fri and came away with a 5 – 5 tie against a very good Doylestown Team.  Pitching was strong on both sides early as both Teams were held scoreless through the first 2 innings.  Doylestown broke through with 2 runs in the 3rd and added another 2 in the 4th to take a  4 – 0 lead.   Deep Run came alive in the bottom of the 4th and was able to string together 4 hits including a double from Zane Rowand, and singles from Levi Bachman, Michael Schaefer and Tyler Overberger which led to 5 runs and a 5 – 4 lead heading into the 5th.  Doylestown tied it up with a run in the top of the 5th.  Tyler Overberger came in to get out of a 2nd and 3rd jam with 1 out to keep the game tied.  The game ended with Deep Run having the winning run on 2nd but a groundout to SS ended the game after the 5th due to darkness.

Pitching and defense were keys to the strong performance for Deep Run.  Deep Run only committed 1 error the entire game and made a number of key plays in the field including a diving catch in RF by Ethan Snyder with 2 runners on and 2 outs.  Levi Bachman pitched 3 solid innings, giving up just 2 runs, while striking out 4 and walking only 1.
